It took about 28 hours to get from Curaçao to Puerto Cabello, Venezuela with high seas and winds around 40 knots. At one point Jorn and I could hear the wind howling in the dark night. This photo was taken when we were about 3 hours from Puerto Cabello, the wind had dropped to next to nothing, the waves were non exsisting and Brian with the sunglasses was no longer seasick... The fortress Solano was build in 1766 on a hill top 500 metres above Puerto Cabello to protect the town from naval attacks. It was build by order of the governr of Venezuela, Don José Solano y Bote and was contructed with slave labor and prisoners. In 1958 it was abandoned. The view is amazing from the castle and the hike up is not that bad if you have plenty of water with you.
