We rented a 4WD Dacia Duster, the car that marks you as a non residents, for our entire two weeks drive around the island. Along the Ring Road we had booked various huts and houses, just to be sure we had a place to sleep. Mostly we had book for two nights so we could explore the surroundings and not rush too much. To save a bit of money, all huts we had booked were with a kitchen.
Supermarkets are not everywhere but for sure in every small town. It was never a problem to get fresh groceries.
We followed the Ring Road counterclock wise with the ocean on our starboard side and made many missions off of the main road. In total we drove 3000 km.
In few places around the world I have felt a sort of magic from the moment I sat foot on the ground. Iceland is now on that magical list.

The sound was heard from the distance and we could see waterdrops hanging in the air when we hiked towards Dettifoss. When we came up to the edge and could see the biggest waterfall in Europa, we were met with a roaring sound of water brutally falling from the height into the abyss, my breath stopped for a minut and again I got emotional.
